I’ve been running a 2021 Mercedes Sprinter for deliveries and while the space in the back is excellent, I’m not fully impressed. The van feels comfortable on long drives and the driving position is great, but I’ve already had electrical issues with the sensors and the AdBlue system is temperamental. Fuel economy is around 27–29mpg, which isn’t great considering it’s mostly motorway miles. For the price, I expected better reliability — it does the job, but maintenance costs are higher than I’d like.

What I liked

The driving comfort is excellent, loads of cargo space, and it feels solid on the motorway.

Could be improved

Electrical faults started earlier than expected, and the AdBlue system has been unreliable. Running costs are on the high side.”

Best van I've owned. Really well built and comfortable. Plenty of room for my locksmith gear. Reliable as anything. Fuel economy is about 31 MPG. Servicing costs more but worth it for the quality.

What I liked

Excellent build quality, very comfortable, reliable, lots of space, holds value brilliantly

Could be improved

Expensive to buy, servicing costs high, fuel economy average

I've driven a lot of large vans and the Sprinter really does feel a cut above most rivals. The cabin is more like a car than a van, with decent materials and everything laid out sensibly. The 2.0 diesel is smooth and has plenty of grunt, though it's not the most economical. Ride quality is genuinely impressive - it handles bumps well even when empty. The MBUX system and safety kit are actually useful rather than just gimmicks. That said, you're paying a premium for all this. Purchase price is high, and servicing isn't cheap either. Longer service intervals help a bit with costs. If you want the best quality and comfort and can afford it, the Sprinter is hard to beat.

What I liked

Really well built, drives more like a car, good tech and safety features, comfortable on long runs, strong Mercedes reputation, lots of load space options

Could be improved

Costs more than rivals to buy, fuel economy isn't the best, expensive to service, quite a few features are optional extras

Engine Options, Fuel Economy, and Performance

Sprinter vans are available with a range of efficient diesel engines, including the proven 2.1-litre and 3.0-litre V6 options, known for their strength and longevity. The latest Euro 6 EcoBlue diesels deliver smooth performance and excellent torque even under heavy loads, with real-world fuel economy between 35–40 mpg.

Automatic models use the 9G-Tronic transmission, offering refined gear changes and improved efficiency on motorways. For rural and off-road work, the 4x4 Sprinter provides extra traction and stability.

Need to tow? The Sprinter can handle up to 3,500 kg depending on configuration — one of the highest ratings in its class.

Payload, Body Styles, and Dimensions

Few vans match the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter for versatility. It's available in several wheelbase and roof-height options, from compact L2H2 models to extended L4H3 versions with enormous load volume. Payloads range from 1,000 kg to over 1,500 kg, depending on model year and conversion.

Model Variant	Load Volume	Payload	Drivetrain
