About the Mercedes-Benz Citan

History

The Mercedes-Benz Citan was introduced in 2012 as the smallest member of the Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle family. Developed in partnership with Renault (it shares its platform with the Renault Kangoo), the Citan was designed to offer Mercedes-Benz quality and features in a compact van format. The Citan filled a gap in Mercedes-Benz's commercial vehicle lineup, providing a solution for urban businesses and delivery services requiring a premium compact van.

Generations

First Generation

2012-2021

The original Citan was developed in partnership with Renault, offering Mercedes-Benz quality in a compact package. It was available in panel van, crew van, and passenger variants.

Second Generation

2021-Present

The current Citan features improved quality, technology, and safety features, with a design that more closely aligns with Mercedes-Benz's premium image. It's also available as the eCitan electric van.
