Wet belt let go at 90k and Ford werent interested
Had a 2017 Tourneo Custom 2.0 EcoBlue as the family bus and for towing the caravan, and for four years i genuinely loved it. Eight adults properly, twin sliding doors with steps, tows the caravan without breaking sweat, quiet on the motorway. Then at 90k the wet belt went. Engine jumped like someone had shoved it and made a god awful noise. The belt breaks up in the oil and the debris blocks the oil pickup and the brake vacuum pump - people have literally lost their brakes from this, theres threads full of it. Mine was off the road for over a year and i was still paying the finance on it the whole time. Ford gave a goodwill contribution of about a third and thats it, and only because i had every service stamped at a Ford dealer with the invoices. Theyve since cut the interval to 6 years or 100k from 10 years and 150k which tells you everything you need to know. If your buying one, get proof the belt has been done, budget 400 to 800 at an independent, and do it at 60 to 80k not 100k. Or just buy the older 2.2.
What I liked
Genuinely seats eight adults, twin sliding doors with side steps as standard, tows a caravan easily, quiet and comfortable on the motorway, seats all come out so it replaces a van and a car
Could be improved
Wet timing belt failed at 90k and wrecked the engine, belt debris blocks the oil pickup and the brake vacuum pump, Ford goodwill only about a third and only with full dealer history, off the road over a year, Ford cut the interval from 150k to 100k

Does everything, but the seats are a two person job
Ours is a 310 Trend 155 LWB eight seater and honestly it does everything we ask of it. Its a minibus, a family holdall, a van when we take the seats out and a decent tow car. Weve done France and back with four of us and seven bikes inside it. The 2m of clear floor with the back row out is the thing that makes it all work. Rides really well and its quiet for what it is. Economy is 33 to 36 mpg against a claimed 43 so take the brochure with a pinch of salt. Two things annoy me. The gearing is so tall that it makes driving more tiring than it needs to be, the shift light tells you to go up and then you immediately have to come back down again on any sort of hill. And taking the double seats out is a genuine two person job - theyre heavy, theres nowhere sensible to store them and they dont fold into the floor like some rivals. Getting through to the back row isnt the smoothest operation either. Dealer experience has been poor as well, id give the vehicle 5 out of 5 and the dealer 2.

Genuinely does the job of a minibus, family car and van in one, 2m of clear floor with the rear row out, rides very well, quiet, decent tow vehicle, seats fully removable

Very tall gearing makes it tiring to drive, double seats are heavy and a two person job to remove, seats dont fold into the floor, awkward access to the rear row, economy 33-36 mpg against a claimed 43, poor dealer service
