Premium small van experience
Upgraded from a Fiesta van and the difference is night and day. This feels properly premium inside with nice materials and good tech. The safety features are excellent - lane assist and automatic braking have saved me a couple of times. Fuel economy is brilliant, getting 48-52 MPG regularly. It's quiet and refined on the motorway. Yes it costs more than rivals but the quality justifies it. Very happy with this purchase.

Excellent small van for city work
Perfect size for London deliveries. Easy to park and manoeuvre in tight spaces. The Mercedes badge definitely helps with resale value. Interior is much nicer than most small vans - feels more like a car. The 1.5 diesel is peppy enough and returns around 50 MPG. Build quality is solid. Only downside is the load space is limited compared to bigger vans, but that's the trade-off for the compact size.

Easy to drive, great fuel economy, comfortable interior, strong resale value, compact for city driving

Limited load space, expensive parts, not much power for motorway driving

History
The Mercedes-Benz Citan was introduced in 2012 as the smallest member of the Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle family. Developed in partnership with Renault (it shares its platform with the Renault Kangoo), the Citan was designed to offer Mercedes-Benz quality and features in a compact van format. The Citan filled a gap in Mercedes-Benz's commercial vehicle lineup, providing a solution for urban businesses and delivery services requiring a premium compact van.
Generations
First Generation
2012-2021The original Citan was developed in partnership with Renault, offering Mercedes-Benz quality in a compact package. It was available in panel van, crew van, and passenger variants.
Second Generation
2021-PresentThe current Citan features improved quality, technology, and safety features, with a design that more closely aligns with Mercedes-Benz's premium image. It's also available as the eCitan electric van.
